Als Baby oder Baby (Plural: Babys) bezeichnet man ein Kind ab der Geburt im ersten Lebensjahr. In dieser Zeit wird es häufig mit der Muttermilch gestillt. Wegen des Saugreflexes wird es Baby genannt. Während der ersten vier Wochen heißt es Neugeborenes.
Babynahrung ist eine speziell für die Bedürfnisse von Babys ab sechs Monaten und Kleinkindern zubereitete Nahrung. Babynahrung wird in der Regel ohne Salz, Gewürze, Zucker und möglichst auch ohne Farb- und Konservierungsstoffe hergestellt.
Der Babyschnuller (auch Beruhigungssauger, umgangssprachlich Nuckel), schweizerisch Nuggi, österreichisch auch Fopper dient dazu, das Saugbedürfnis von Babys und Kleinkindern zu befriedigen. Die ersten Babyschnuller gab es im alten Ägypten: Mit Honig gefüllte kleine Tiere aus Ton. Der moderne Schnuller besteht im wesentlichen aus einem Mundteil, welches aus Latex oder Silikon hergestellt ist und einem Schild, welcher das Verschlucken des Mundteils verhindert.
